Hill founded MYD in 2005 desiring to help address the dropout crisis and meet the need for more positive programs that impacted youth in the areas of leadership, character development, college and career readiness, and good citizenship through service learning.
According to research, communities must do two things to improve high school graduation rates and career readiness for youth: (1) Provide access to effective academic and enrichment programs, and (2) Properly manage student transitions.
If students successfully make transitions into each level of schooling (elementary, middle, and high), they are significantly more likely to graduate from high school and lead productive lives as good citizens. Effective programs and support initiatives at each transition can increase graduation rates by 10%.
Through our annual Summer Empowerment Academy (SEA), special youth talks and awards given to deserving students, the Manifest Your Destiny Foundation has no plans of slowing down efforts in reaching young people who need us most.
